P3 Announced as Hillingdon Mayor's Charity of the Year from 1st June

Social inclusion Charity P3, together with two other charities in the London Borough of Hillingdon, expressed their gratitude for the support provided by the new Mayor, Councillor Shirley Harper-O’Neill, which will help them to actively tackle social exclusion and disadvantage amongst the Borough’s Young People

Councillor Harper-O’Neill was sworn into office at the London Borough of Hillingdon’s Annual General Meeting on the 14th May 2009, and will serve as the Mayor of Hillingdon for the full term of one year.

A long time supporter of P3’s Navigator, and other services in the Borough tackling social exclusion and disadvantage among young people, Councillor Harper-O’Neill chose P3 together with two other charities in the Borough to officially support during her term as Mayor.

The Mayor will be identifying opportunities to work with her chosen charities both individually and collectively to help with fundraising. P3 employs 35 staff in Hillingdon and has a range of services working with young disadvantaged people including three supported housing schemes, two advice centres, two recruitment centres and educational outreach projects. Over 1000 young people in the Borough access P3’s services every year, gaining support for a range of issues from homelessness and alcohol addiction to educational support and development.

Welcoming the Mayor’s commitment to the charity, Luka Winterborne, Public Relations and Fundraising Manager for P3 said:
“P3 is delighted to have been nominated along with Age Concern and Ear4U, as Charity of the Year in Hillingdon. Support of this nature will help to promote a better understanding of the work that we do with so many disadvantaged young people in the Borough and the multiple barriers that they face on a daily basis. We are very excited about working on forthcoming fundraising events with the Mayor. I would like to thank Councillor Harper-O’Neill who has recognised the work of P3 in the Borough of Hillingdon and the contribution that we are making to the lives of vulnerable young people”
