Merger of P3 the social inclusion charity and The Rugby Portobello Trust - Effective from 15th July 2009
Charities merge in a move to ensure the long term development of some of the best voluntary youth resources available in North Kensington.
P3 and The Rugby Portobello Trust (RPT) merged on the 14th July 2009 in a bid to develop and strengthen the already well acclaimed services that RPT provides in areas of West London. The two charities will combine their strengths in service delivery, operations and outreach into one efficient, mission focused platform.
The Rugby Portobello Trust has been working with the young people in North Kensington, West London since last century. The aim of the organisation has always been to help young people experiencing social exclusion through a wide range of support services, activities and learning programmes to ensure that they have the full opportunities necessary to achieve their personal best.
Adam Hackett - Chair of Rugby Portobello Trust said of the merger "RPT has great pride in its many achievements over 125 years, especially the thousands of people whose lives we have changed through the fantastic work of our staff and brilliant volunteers, and we look forward to continuing that through the merger."
Based in the Midlands but with a national reach, P3 has been offering supported housing, mental health services, link worker schemes, outreach, prison in-reach and a variety of youth services in Greater London for over 25 years. Amongst an avalanche of awards, P3 was voted as UK Charity of the Year 2005 and has consistently been recognised by the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies List as a top 10 employer since 2005. P3 have gone from strength to strength in recent years and now work with over 2000 people a week experiencing a variety of social exclusion needs.
Martin Kinsella - Chief Executive of P3 said "At a time when economic difficulties are causing such strain for Not For Profit organisations supporting those in our society who are most excluded it is heartening to see two respected organisations working together to ensure that we continue to deliver life changing services to the young people of West London".
Both charities deliver programmes of support that help young people achieve their potential and see the merger as a tool to strengthen that capacity, help even more people. This strategic merger will enhance both organisations' ability to provide support as they can now offer a more effective and expanded service for those facing increasing challenges at this time of economic uncertainty.
The merger brings together over 150 years of proven expertise in helping socially excluded and vulnerable people find and keep their homes, secure employment, stay in education and increase their involvement in youth and community work.
