recruitment P3 has its own dedicated recruitment service for young people aged between 16-25; Jobshop, offerering a supportive role working in line with its own working ethos. Jobshop is a job brokerage service providing free training and support to 16-25 year olds across West London. Established in 2003, the project was created in response to client demand resulting from high unemployment rates in the North West London area. In line with P3's organisational holistic approach, Jobshop seeks to recruit for a diverse client base, working in hard to reach areas with unskilled clients, the long term unemployed, and those with social and economic needs. The project overcomes these barriers into employment through training and development programmes, while providing a professional recruitment service to employers through its dedicated staff team. The project works with local organisations to provide the best service available to benefit the community and learner needs. Jobshop's most successful initiative is the Routes to Work (RTW) program, launched in April 2005 and in partnership with BAA (British Airport Authority) and the Heathrow City Partnership. Young people on the program benefit from: - Individual needs assessments
- Advice and guidance
- Drop-In sessions
- CV writing help, job searching and interview skills workshops
- Job searching facilities (free internet access and job listings)
- One week retail/customer service course
- Recruitment days
- Motivational Pacific Institute Training
- Basic skills, English language and other work based training
- Modern Apprenticeship Schemes
- Work placements/Jobs
The success of the Routes to Work program was acknowledged on a national level in 2006 by winning the National Training Awards for Greater London. Working in conjunction with P3's Navigator advice centre's, Jobshop has supported jobseekers with guidance relating to education, housing benefits, offences, drugs, health/welfare and mental health. By working with other departments, Jobshop offers a more wholesome package in comparison to other high street recruiters, thus overcoming the barriers preventing young people from accessing work. Through this synergy, Jobshop has also helped to overcome fundamental asylum seeker/refugee needs through providing English language training and housing support advice. Typical clients of Jobshop are: - 16-25 years old
- unemployed
- socially excluded
- economically unstable
- single/young parents
- under confident/unmotivated
- low skilled
- not undertaking education
- refugees/asylum seekers
- ex-offenders
- homeless, disabled or with health problems.
