what is a Social Enterprise?

Social Enterprise is a term often confused with commercial organisations ‘Social Objectives’. What makes a Social Enterprise more distinctive however, is the fact that their social and/or environmental purpose is central to what they do rather than a smaller side part of it. It is through this central focus that Social Enterprises are able to improve the quality of life of many people in some of the most difficult and excluded communities. What makes a social enterprise so exclusive is the ability to make the changes necessary with minimal resources and in the most unpromising circumstances. As not for profit organisations, Social Enterprises can focus solely on people in need and the communities they live in yet still engage in economic activities via a well organized, legal structure. All social enterprises share the same ‘can do’ spirit, believing that no barrier is too big to overcome and no challenge to enormous to face.

It is here, where responsibility and benefits are widely shared and relationships are mutually bounded, that P3 becomes a social enterprise. We offer people who often feel alienated from mainstream society, the chance to contribute economically and socially in a way in which they feel most comfortable.

P3’s journey in reaching our main aim of fighting social exclusion is by delivering its services directly to its desired users at the exact time of need. By having this direct impact, P3’s experienced and highly skilled services can place a strong emphasis on long term success making a difference, as well as a profit, creating even more possibilities for people in reaching their full potential. P3 also completes this aim further via its operation in employing people from disadvantaged communities who access our services. Alongside this remains the continued support and encouragement needed to ensure a healthy and positive career development.

We are extremely proud of our Social Enterprise status. Our chief executive, Martin Kinsella is an ambassador for Social Enterprise ensuring that P3 remain at the forefront of this exciting government initiative.
